In essence, the third is the perfect magic effect. There is nothing to do but reveal the deed has been done. From my perspective, this gives me a chance to convince the audience magic has surely happened. In the first two I waved my hands over the cards and the magic happened. Then I picked up the cards to reveal the magic. In the process of picking up the cards, the magic is actually accomplished. The third time it is all done. I believe that if I wave my hands just as before and raise the cards just as before, the audience will believe I did exactly the same and the magic happens. The third time they can watch like a hawk. The first two they really can't. But because they can the third time, they believe they could have the first two. The best part of both methods carry over to the other creating an iron clad effect in the mind of the audience.
Other performers see the third transposition an opportunity to do even stronger magic. Some will reach under the

card and pull out the coin saying it is invisible and toss it over. Others will blow on the last card as if the created air flow carries the coin across. In the process both cards will move to reveal the coin has magically passed.
I believe that this change of magic method appears as a different magic trick to the audience. I believe that this will cause them to look for different methods instead of assuming the same method was used. If different methods are used, they can begin to unwind the secret. If they believe all three methods are the same they will search for a solution that fits all three. There is of course none. Therefore they will fail.
Consider Ambitious Cards Let's take up another trick. Let's look at the ambitious card routine. I have performed this trick for over 25 years. It never fails to please. Again, I believe the card should rise to the top the same each
