magic for each group. When one group
walked out of this room, those walking in
would see the response from that previous
group. This dramatically built interest to
see what was going on.

Clearly, building interest is difficult to
accomplish. You essentially try to do it.
Then retry when something doesn't work.
Some things stand out however. First is
that to build interest in your magic; simply
do good magic. This has several meanings.
One can, "Eliminate the bad stuff." Another is
that if people see other people interested,
people will be interested. Then, have you
thought of your interest in the welfare of the
audience you are performing for. Clearly,
if you are interested in them; chances are
they will be interested in you. Finally, if the
following items are done well, interest in
your magic will increase.

Let's move on.

  Level of Impossibility
The Level of Impossibility should enhance
the interest of your audience. I am
somewhat amazed that magician's will
present a choice of four objects claiming
they have written a prediction and put it in

It is the named card. This is amazing and
remains one of the significant pieces of
magic today. The issue here is that
predicting one out of fifty two is more
amazing than predicting one out of four.

That is, the more impossible the effect,
the more amazing. Producing a coin during
dinner is one thing. Producing a one pound
block of ice during dinner is an entirely
