About Super Nova I selected Super Nova for this great ad and the trick I would give away. I had been working on this effect for about 6 years at the time. It began when I was watching a DVD of someone doing a kind of reverse matrix. In this effect the performer attempted to create the illusion that the coins suddenly moved from one corner to the other corners instantly. Somehow an Okito Coin box was involved. I liked the idea of things kind of exploding and some coins suddenly appearing over a wide area. That was the idea. Or rather, that is what I saw the effect to be. Eventually the name Super Nova occurred to me and I attempted to find a solution to the problem.
I created the trick and the ad. I got a picture of a super nova from NASA. It wasn't quite flashy enough so I used a computer art program to put a white ball of light exploding in the center of the nova. It looked quite spectacular. I looked in my files to locate an old copy of it but couldn't

find it to show you. It did appear in Genii and looked very good.
Richard Kaufman, the editor of Genii, was kind enough to comment on the trick in his editorial section at the beginning of the magazine. He suggested watching the routine before reading the explanation. I thought that was cool.
While I had the ad well under control, getting the trick to go was quite a bit more difficult.
